I see your pt - I"m looking for space in and of itself - is it still ambiguos? If it was DS-space-drums where did the DS end - when Jer left the stage - but I think someone can narrow down the period without the interference of when does the space start or end?

I'm thinking 80-85?

I'm thinking 89-94 after they installed the midi system...

I was actually wondering as I typed - there was plenty of time during space that Jer was NOT onstage before that system u r referring to - correct?

since bob bralove did a lot of the space between drumz and space from 90-95, i'm inclined to think of the early 80s. it depends how you define space.

in the early 80s, there were times when jerry (sometimes bob, rarely phil) would come out at the end of drumz. he would noodle and mickey would take up the tar (freshly heated by ramrod). jerry would take an egyptian type flair of a jam and the drummers would keep a low heart-rhythm. those are some of my favorites and provide a good seamless transition.

check out st. paul 82 for a great example of that! then there's 10-12-84 (absolutely one of my phavorites). listening to the uncle john's->jam->drumz->space->playin' reprise i am constantly awed by what a dead base "drumz->space" moniker will hide. also check out 7-15-84.

by the way, the garden run in '90, especially 9-19 and 9-20 have long stretches of space surrounding drumz on both sides. then there's the 9-16 pre-standing post-standing space. wow.
